October Is Breast Cancer Awarness Month

Stylish Advisor

October is breast cancer awareness month and as a fashion stylist, I decided to show a few ways to incorporate a little Pink.
I styled three ladies, two of which had beat breast cancer and I am sharing their personal stories.

Diane Moggio, I first met this lady at my local Lifetime Fitness in Rochester Hills MI. As a fellow member who frequently took the same fitness classes together, we soon became workout friends. Diane soon took her fitness routine to the next level and became an instructor at Lifetime, and went on to teach at Orangetheory , Rochester Hills MI.
Diane has such a strong and vibrant personally it's truly hard to know that she as has battled cancer not once but twice.  In Diane's own words, here's her story:

Diane Moggio

"1st breast cancer 2013, lumpectomy and radiation. 2nd breast cancer 2017, double mastectomy with reconstruction. My reconstruction failed had major complications, 3 surgeries in the fall of 2017. Found an AMAZING doctor and hospital in New Orleans who could fix my failed reconstruction. Started down there in April 2018, had another complication, got an infection after surgery had to back down in May for removal of one implant.  Went back in August had it placed back in, doing great as we speak, but have one more surgery the first weekend of November to tweak everything up!! It will be a total of 7 surgeries in just a little over a year.  A member at Orangetheory fitness had the idea to throw a fundraiser in February raising me $25,000 to help me with my very expensive road having surgery out of state for my reconstruction with those AMAZING doctors down there.  My friends, family, bosses and best friend have been the most AMAZING support system thru this very emotional last year for me, I feel like the luckiest person in the world."

I styled Diane to reflect her vibrate outgoing personality. Wearing an embellished "Fierce" T-shirt, Pink jeans and plenty of her own bling,

Diane's "Fierce " T-shirt is available at Macy's for under $70.
Hot Pink Jeans available at Macy's $50

My next warrior Lori Dillion.

Lori came to me as a client, actually, her husband reached out to me to as a surprise birthday gift for her! Lori is such a wonderful lady, I enjoyed working with her and finding some great pieces to add to her closet. After hearing her story I reached out to her and asked if she would like to share her story and model on Fox! Let me tell you, being on LIVE TV is quite scary. Lori did a great job.

In Lori's words her story:

Diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer 9/27/17
Double mastectomy on 10/26/17
36 radiation treatments
No chemotherapy :)
1 year suvivor

"Had annual mammograms which were all clear even up to my last routine one in December 2016. Noticed changes in my left breast which I thought was due to being over 50 but then my nipple started to flatten so I knew something was wrong. My sister ran the breast center at St. Joe's Ann Arbor and if it wasn't for her the process would have been very overwhelming.
I knew I had breast cancer when walking out of St. Joe's after having a  mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy on 9/25/17 but waited until the official diagnosis.
My best friend and husband was there for me through good and bad news. I can't imagine the last year without him. He picked me up when I was down and I did the same in return.
Telling our children Connor (23) and Brendan (20) was very painful but we had a plan of action before telling them. They broke down but then both very strong when I broke down during the last year.
Overywhelming support from family, friends, co-workers and people I met through my journey.
Wonderful and caring medical team.
Learned very quickly that I wasn't the only one with breast cancer - so many people I met throughout the last year have had breast cancer or know someone who does.
Today I'm feeling very strong. Am back to working out which is so important to me. I feel lucky and blessed every day."
